Overview:
As a member of the Animal Care Team for the Humane Society for Greater Lafayette, you will be an integral part of the day-to-day operations. As an Animal Care Team Member (ACT Member), you will report directly to supervisory staff. You will be on the front line of keeping a safe and healthy environment for our animal guests. You will be trained and expected to enforce best practices related to a positive environment for customers, animals, and staff members. Our ACT Members must provide positive public interactions and be kind, courteous, and knowledgeable to any and all who visit our facility.

Position Responsibilities:
ACT Members work at the pleasure of the Executive Director and Director of Operations.
Duties include, but are not limited to,
Clean and sanitize animal living spaces according to best practices and company policy
Keep outdoor spaces clean and sanitary
Have the ability to use the provided equipment safely and in compliance with training/operating manuals
Provide animals with indoor and outdoor physical enrichment. This includes walking small to large animals on leashes or other containment methods
Clean and sanitize food and water dishes
Provide enrichment when inside living spaces
Move animals within the facility and transport outside the facility
Consistently keep living spaces clean and free of soiled material or filth throughout the workday
Must be able to provide positive customer service to visitors and staff
Report any medical issues if noticed to a supervisory staff member
Report any behavioral issues to a supervisory staff member
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, move, restrain, and manage animals weighing up to and over 100lbs
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Must be able to stand, walk, crouch, and bend for extended periods of time
Must be able to use hands and arms working above shoulder level
Qualifications:
Must be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned
High school education or equivalent
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate the ability to self-motivate
If transportation in company-owned fleet vehicles is required, a valid driver's license is required
Passionate about creating and maintaining high-quality care for the animals in the facility
Animal handling experience preferred
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Be able to follow directions and establish standards of operations
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

You will usually be the first point of contact for people in our community. This contact is crucial to the success of our organization. You will be responsible for providing honest, informative, friendly, and courteous service to our customers. Our success depends on the trust and positive public perception our community members have in us. This position is vital to saving the lives of animals in our area and beyond.

Customer Service & Adoption Representatives work at the pleasure of the Executive Director and Director of Operations.

Assists in the placement of animals through the adoption process outlined in HS4GL policies
Acts as a customer service representative for the organization
Answers phones, takes messages, and forwards voicemails to appropriate staff members.
Files information correctly and maintains proper organizational skills
Maintains a clean workspace
Cleans and sanitizes the lobby area
Manages monetary transactions through point-of-sale software
Manages cash transactions
Remains engaged with team members and animals within the facility
